We’re excited to share a Frederick News-Post review by Paul Smith, who attended the Frederick Symphony Orchestra’s concert, Pictures at an Exhibition:
“One of Frederick County’s choicest treasures is the Frederick Symphony Orchestra. On Saturday, a large crowd at Frederick Community College’s Jack B. Kussmaul Theater was treated with an inspiring program of music by this orchestra, composed of 75 talented musicians living right here among us.
The orchestra pulled at the audience’s heartstrings with the Second Movement of Beethoven’s ‘Seventh Symphony’ in reverent honor of the recent death of one of the orchestra’s cellists, Dick Kamakaris. This was followed by the exciting and then tender strains of Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Night on Bald Mountain.’ And this was followed by the brilliant performance of 17-year-old violinist Eileen Moudou, who was soloist in Saint-Saens’ magnificent ‘Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.’ The orchestra’s finale was Mussorgsky and Ravel’s famous ‘Pictures at an Exhibition.’
Frederick County is very fortunate to have such a talented musical group in our midst. The Frederick Symphony Orchestra is one of the rare and precious gems that make Frederick County the best place to live in Maryland. Thank you to the orchestra director, Glenn Quader; to the assistant director, Andrew Rosenfeld; to the orchestra president, Christina May Connelly; and to the other officers and directors. And a special thank you to all the musicians who freely give so much of their time to present such pleasing and inspiring music.
The combined, dedicated service of these people lifts the quality of life for hundreds of people in our community.”
Thank you to Paul Smith and all who attended our concert last Saturday. Be sure to catch our next concert:
