The Frederick Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is performing Baroque Celebrations, the inaugural Symphony Spotlight concert, on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Brodbeck Hall at Hood College.
The Symphony will begin its 2017-2018 season with the inaugural Symphony Spotlights, a series of special concerts that showcase baroque and classical chamber music during the Masterworks season. This new series features the small ensembles and soloists from the FSO, as well as guest musicians.
Baroque Celebrations will include Divertimento in D Major, K. 136 and Quintet in Eb Major, K. 452 by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
This Symphony Spotlight concert will feature harpist Casey Perley during Concerto For Organ in B-flat Major, HWV 294 by German composer Georg Frideric Handel as well as harpsichordist Wayne Wold during Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, BWV 1050 by German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
The show will also feature the Frederick Kokopelli Wind Quintet during Czech Republic composer Antonín Dvořák’s Serenade For Winds in D Minor, Op. 44.
