Based on the success of last year’s performances, the Frederick Symphony Orchestra’s summer residency, the Frederick Camerata, will be performing four free concerts throughout June and August.
“The musicians of the FSO Camerata are really looking forward to bringing more fun and beautiful programs to audiences in Frederick City and County this summer,” said Associate Conductor Andrew Rosenfeld.
For Dances For A Summer Evening, the musicians will go back to The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg on June 24, 2017 then head to McClintock Distilling in Frederick on June 25, 2017.
The concert will include Two Dances from tango compositions Estaciones Porteñas by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla with an arrangement by Austrian-Hungarian composer Romeo Bragato. The concert also includes Dances From Transylvania by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók and Two Rags: Bethona and The Easy Winners by American composer Scott Joplin.
The show will close with Emperor Waltz by Neubau-born composer Johann Strauss II with an arrangement by Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg.
The second concert, American Season, will be performed on August 5, 2017 at Horning Theater at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg and on August 6, 2017 at Brodbeck Music Hall at Hood College in Frederick.
The Camerata will play American composer Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring (Suite For 13 Instruments) and other works.
