To continue our educational promgramming, The Frederick Symphony Orchestra is pleased to invite students recommended by the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra music director to perform alongside our musicians during a concert on April 30, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at Frederick Community College.

The selected students will be playing Felix Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture (Fingal’s Cave) as the opening work on the program. They will also have the chance to perform their original, unedited works for an enthusiastic audience.

The FSO expects that all selected students be in good standing with their respective youth orchestra program. This concert partnership is not meant to replace any existing membership in their current youth orchestra, but selected students are expected to attend all rehearsals (with the exception of one absence for youth orchestra commitments) prior to the April concert. The rehearsals will be at the concert space on the following dates:

Thursday, April 7

Thursday, April 14

Thursday, April 21

Thursday, April 28

Friday, April 29

Students have to stay for only the Hebrides portion, but are welcome to observe the rest of the rehearsal. Parents are also welcome to observe the rehearsals. Music will be sent to the selected students electronically prior to rehearsal, and printed sheets of music will be provided on site.

This concert partnership is a unique opportunity for young musicians to be mentored by their respective counterparts, gain valuable insights, and experience a performance with a full symphony. The FSO is very excited to perform alongside these talented young musicians.
