For the first time, the Frederick Symphony Orchestra (FSO) is performing Symphonic Pipes at Coffman Chapel at Hood College, an independent liberal arts college in Frederick, Maryland, on March 19, 2017 at 3 p.m.
The idea of organists Brian Bartoldus and Wayne Wold, Symphonic Pipes will feature Associate Conductor Andrew Rosenfeld and the Frederick Camerata performing selections from Serenade for Strings by Russian composer Pytor Tchaikovsky and German composer Josef Rheinberger’s Concerto No. 1 in F major for organ.
The FSO and soloist Julia Parker will close with German composer George Frideric Handel’s Organ Concerto in G Minor, HWV 289, and French composer Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, Organ, conducted by Maestro Glenn Quader and performed by Wold and Bartoldus.
“I’m looking incredibly forward [to playing with the FSO],” Bartoldus said.
“I’m a musician who’s fallen in love with Frederick. It only makes sense that I would find a way to connect myself with this organization and do whatever I can to be a worthy part of it. I will bring them my best.”
