March 5, 2017:
About 120 “young men come from a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds” form the Maryland Boychoir, the state’s Official Goodwill Ambassadors. The touring ensemble will sing at Evangelical Lutheran Church at 10:45 a.m. For more information, click here.
March 6-12, 2017:
What’s this city without its foodie stops? Frederick Restaurant Week features multi-course meals at mouth-watering prices. Participating restaurants include Brewer’s Alley, Family Meal, Firestone’s Culinary Tavern, JoJo’s Restaurant & Tap House, The Tasting Room, Volt, and more.
March 18, 2017:
Visit the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center from 1 to 4 p.m. to sample a variety of family-friendly art activities, view demonstrations, and more.
March 19, 2017:
Hood College welcomes the Orchestra for the first time for our primary spring concert, Symphonic Pipes, at 3 p.m.
This concert will feature Andrew Rosenfeld and the Frederick Camerata musicians performing selections from Serenade for Strings by Pytor Tchaikovsky and Josef Rheinberger’s Concerto No. 1 in F major for Organ.
The FSO will close with George Frideric Handel’s Organ Concerto in G Minor, HWV 289, and Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, Organ, conducted by Maestro Glenn Quader.
March 26, 2017:
See everyone’s favorite ogre find his place in the world with Donkey, Fiona, and the rest of the Fairy Tale forest in Shrek The Musical! at the Weinberg Center for the Arts from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. This performance benefits the Frederick County Food Bank and Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership.
March 29, 2017:
Be a part of the Flying Dog Film Series, as we watch Sixteen Candles at 7:30 p.m. in the Weinberg. Happy Hour begins at 6:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, click here.
April 1, 2017:
Visit historic Downtown Frederick for First Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. You’ll find a large variety of unique galleries, shops, live music, and restaurants. For more information, visit their website.
April 6, 2017:
The heart of Texas comes to our charming city when the Quebe sisters, a trio of fiddle and singing champions, storm the Weinberg stage in sweet harmony at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available here.
April 8, 2017:
You’re the judge in this 6-round competition between a duo of internationally acclaimed classical music pianists. Get tickets to the show, which begins at 8 p.m. in the Weinberg.
April 15, 2017:
Join Adventure Park USA for the Easter Bunny Breakfast and Egg Hunt at 8 a.m. Take part in photo opps, face painting, arts and crafts, and a breakfast buffet. Get attraction tickets and more information on their website.
April 25, 2017:
Test your wits with Mr. Lemoncello’s Library Olympics with games and a raffle. Presented in partnership with Curious Iguana, this free event is offering books for sale at C. Burr Artz Public Library from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
May 4, 2017:
The Calgary Herald praises the Zorá String Quartet as “the perfect ensemble” that’s “exquisitely well-trained, supremely blended, and broadly intelligent.” See for yourself as they span the classical and romantic periods to now with the cello, violin, and viola at the Weinberg at 7:30 p.m.
May 6, 2017:
Join us for Romanian Rainbow, as we perform selections from composers George Enescu, Béla Bartók, and Christopher Theofanidis. We’ll also be showcasing the talent of the to-be-determined Young Artist Competition winner.
May 13, 2017:
Enjoy an afternoon with your four-legged friend at the annual Bark in the Park in Utica District Park. Your furry companion will have the opportunity to run in one of the off-leash areas, test their skills on an agility course, participate in a doggie fashion show, and make new friends.
If you don’t have a pet, no worries! Opportunities for families to adopt a dog will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
