Thanks to the success of our FSO Musician Spotlights, we became curious about where every single instrumentalist came from. Are they from Maryland, or do they hail from a nearby state? Did anyone grow up in the charming South or the relaxed West Coast? Is anyone from out of the country?
To find out some answers, we sent out a survey to more than 100 FSO musicians. Now, the Frederick Symphony Orchestra has discovered where in the world our musicians are from. Take a peek at our comprehensive map:
In conclusion,
- Surprisingly, most of our musicians who responded are from New York.
- 15.5 percent of our musicians who responded were born outside of the United States or in Washington, D.C.
- Only about 12 percent of respondents are from the FSO’s home state of Maryland.
- Some of our respondents are the only ones from their home state, including California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, Utah, and Wisconsin.
